The Blood Applied

February 25, 2024 • Randall Snipes • Mark 14

In the book of Exodus, we find the origins of Passover. The Israelites were to spread the blood of a perfect, spotless, male lamb on three sides of their doorposts in order to avoid the coming wrath of God. Fast forward approximately 1500 years, and we find Jesus revealing to His disciples, that the most significant memorial in the history of the Jewish people is about Him. It is about His body that must be sacrificed and His blood that must be applied to the door of our hearts for us to escape the wrath of God.

Miracles & Mucus

As we come to Mark 8 in our study of the New Testament, we find many of Jesus' miraculous miracles recorded for us. From feeding the 4,000 to healing a blind man with His spit, Jesus came to show everyone that He was and is the long awaited Messiah that was prophesied about in the Old Testament. In Jesus' hands, even something that is gross and repulsive to us can become the miracle for someone else.

Possessed by the Holy Spirit

February 11, 2024 • Randall Snipes • Mark 5:1–20

There is a large spectrum of thought and speculation in regards to demons and demonic activity. The western culture seems to be entertained by demonic possession based solely on the fact that possession movies consistently top the box office. The confrontation between the powers of heaven and hell are on full display in the encounter of the Gerasene demoniac with our Lord Jesus Christ in chapter 5 of the Gospel of Mark. As Pastor Randall walks us through this story, we find that demon possession is a counterpart to the filling of the Holy Spirit. Just as demons desire to possess persons through whom they can exhibit their personalities, so the Spirit of God desires to indwell or "possess" man. The Holy Spirit imparts new life and will progressively gain control so that the character of God is exhibited in us.
