John 1 presents us with a truth that is undeniable. He leaves no stone unturned to present us Jesus, who is Messiah. Jesus brings us grace, truth, and the ability to become God's children. John gives us the most foundational characteristic of Jesus and that is He is God. He is our foundation.

When we open to chapter 11 of John, we encounter a life/Faith crisis situation that is one of the most grief oriented instructions in all of Scripture. Lazarus is dead. Grief, regret, and fear had overtaken the rest of the people involved in the situation. But Jesus says, "if you believe, you will see the glory of God". Great tragedy has been the breeding ground of Great Faith. Great Faith says that Jesus is God and is good regardless of how I feel or what I have lost. God is not only glorified by that kind of faith, but it becomes ointment for other peoples healing and the source of our reward.

Undoubtedly, John 3:16 is the most famous verse in the entire Bible. Is it famous because we (Christian culture, celebrities, athletes) have made it famous? Or could it be that God has used His people to point a dying world towards the words of life? This verse of scripture has made its way into the headlines on multiple occasions because the living God of the universe is still lovingly seeking to save the lost. God wants people to hear and to believe so that they....we....you can be saved!
