Shame is a powerful tool of the enemy that distorts and destroys our confidence, identity, and purpose. It tells us that we are unworthy and unlovable, isolating us from God and others. In the story of Jesus encountering a leprous man in Matthew 8 and Mark 1, we learn several practical ways to heal from our shame and experience the compassion of Jesus. Today we are going to see through the Scriptures that knowing Jesus was the focus of the Apostle Paul’s life - nothing else he experienced could deter this goal. Just as this was Paul’s goal, each Christian wants to know Jesus more. This knowledge is more than just an intellectual understanding of the Word. When we press in and seek to know God more we are often faced with various problems: the distractions of life, personal responsibilities, and feelings of failure. Let’s allow the desire to know Jesus more to be stirred in us as we learn from the Scripture.
