God of Our Fathers

A Changed Life

June 28, 2023 • Dale Jennings • Genesis 35—36

God calls us to live a sanctified, holy life set apart from the world. This is definitely a process that takes time in our lives. It all begins with being obedient to the Lord and his commands. Jacob's life was like a roller coaster in his relationship with the Lord, up and down, up and down. You know what! That can be us too! Join us as we see how Jacob's life has changed and we too can learn how to truly have, A Changed Life because of being obedient to the Lord.

The Consequences of Complacency

June 21, 2023 • Tim Miller • Genesis 34

Jacob has finally made it back to the promised land. What a relief! That means he can settle in and grow complacent in his faith, right? Wrong! He was just as much in need of God’s grace in the land of promise as he was in Laban’s household or in his encounter with his brother, Esau. Join us as we learn the hard lessons of what can happen when we stop relying on the Lord and slip into spiritual complacency.

Fear Not, For I Am With You

May 31, 2023 • Dale Jennings • Genesis 32

Fear is a very strong emotion! We would be lying if any of us said that we have never felt fear in our lives. Fear can affect us in one of two ways. It can either paralyze us to the point we can barely function, or it can drive us to seek God and lean into him as we understand God is sovereign over all our circumstances, and we really don't have control over much of anything. Join us as we learn what God teaches us so many times in Scripture, Fear Not, for I am with you!

Family Feud

May 24, 2023 • Tim Miller • Genesis 31

Jacob spent twenty years as a servant in the household of Laban being manipulated and mistreated. It was now finally time for him to leave and return to the land God had promised him, but Laban would not let Jacob go without a fight. Join us as this family feud reaches its climax and Laban pursues Jacob through the hills. Buckle up for this one. It’s going to be a wild ride.

Overcoming Disappointment

God, The Provider of All Blessings

May 10, 2023 • Dale Jennings • Genesis 29:31—30:24

From God whom all blessings flow! All blessings come from God. Even in spite of ourselves, God does work to show us his faithfulness and the need to trust in his sovereignty. Join us as we continue to look at how God takes our mess and still brings it that his glory is revealed!

Deceiver Deceived

May 3, 2023 • Tim Miller • Genesis 29:1–30

What goes around, comes around. Jacob had deceived his father, and he would very soon learn what it feels like to be on the receiving end of deceit. Join us as we watch the deceiver get deceived and seek to learn how we can graciously walk in the truth in the midst of a world of lies.

I Am With You

April 26, 2023 • Matthew McNeil

"Well, it is what it is." We say that when there isn't much we can do about a given situation except MOVE FORWARD. Jacob would inherit the blessings of the Abrahamic Covenant, just as God foretold, but not in the way God intended, and that only added to the dysfunction of the family and the difficulty of his path. Thankfully, God still meets us on the hard road we've chosen and reminds us, "I Am With You." Join us and be encouraged to seek the presence of the Lord in whatever situation you find yourself.

The Pains of Deception

April 19, 2023 • Dale Jennings • Genesis 27

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive! When you act deceptively it can create an effect like the analogy of a snowball rolling down a hill. The deception and lies just keep getting bigger and bigger. You are having to tell a lie to cover the first lie and so on and so on. In the wake of the deception there is left pain, anger, trust that is severed, and broken relationships. Join us as we see the pains lies and deception can cause.

Like Father…

April 12, 2023 • Tim Miller • Genesis 26

As parents, there are some things we would rather not pass on to our children: our trials, our mistakes, our enemies…The list could probably go on and on. The sad truth is we often see the same struggles that plagued one generation repeated in the next. Thankfully, God is able to break through the generational dysfunction and bring blessing out of our brokenness. Join us as we see how Isaac was a lot like his father, for worse and, by God’s grace, for better.

Family Matters

April 5, 2023 • Matthew McNeil • Genesis 25

Families can be…complicated. It can be difficult to even HAVE a family, and once you do, the difficulties almost always become even more…yeah, complicated. As the story transitions from Abraham to Isaac, we see that this family through whom God chose to reveal Himself to the world wasn't without its own complications. Join us as we delve into the "Family Matters" of God's people and gain insight for spiritually leading our own homes.

Passing the Baton

March 29, 2023 • Dale Jennings • Genesis 24

In a competitive relay race, "What has to be passed between the runners to get to the finish line?" That's right! The Baton! As parents, God has given us the responsibility and privilege to pass the "Baton of Faith" to our children. Join us as we see the godly faith passed from Abraham to Isaac as we return back to the book of Genesis and our study of, "God of our Fathers", the "God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."
