04/16/17 RISEN: The First to See Him Saw Him Through Tears

April 16, 2017 • Richard Cimino

As we look at John 20 we have to remember the disciples had never read John 20. They had just lived out the horrific events of John 19. They had not yet associated the suffering and death of Jesus with Psalm 22 or Isaiah 52-53. They hadnt grasped the truth of the Old Testament prophesies concerning the resurrection; nor the promises that Jesus made to them time and again of not only His death, but His resurrection. For them they were left with a sense of utter abandonment and hopelessness coupled with the reality of how they had denied and deserted Jesus. John 20 is the story of that joy of how all of that changed!
