The Triangle of Surrender (Pt. 4)

1 John 2:3-6

September 6, 2015 • Dr. Bobby Blanton

To surrender implies a change of allegiance from self to Jesus’ leadership. A disciple is a believer who is on a journey to be like Jesus. That’s what Jesus meant when He said, “Follow me.” A disciple has taken a decisive step of full surrender of self and is making a daily, full and total effort to be like Jesus. You can’t be a true believer and not intend to give Christ everything. Surrendering our lives to Christ will set in motion a process that will transform us from the idle, weak and disappointing Christians we are, into being His disciples.

You can't confine it.

Are you an intentional disciple… or are you an accidental disciple? Jesus gave his disciples the Great Commission in Matthew 28, but we’re still left with questions and confusion. We understand that Jesus would send His followers, we understand the importance of publically identifying with Christ, and we understand the importance of teaching and obeying. But what we are confused about is the idea of a disciple. Pastor Bobby defines what a disciple is, and he outlines three qualities of a disciples in this message.
