Fasting is feasting on God. Jesus said if you fast without the motive to impress others, your fasting in secret will be rewarded in secret by the Father. In the secret place, God is there. Your Father in heaven is your reward. This is the great overarching purpose in all our fasting—it is a means through which we draw near to God and he rewards us with the knowledge of his presence.
