Today’s gospel story about the faith of a Roman soldier will help us consider that part of worship is coming to God in honesty about the hurting parts of our hearts, minds and bodies and asking Him in humility for His strength where we come up short. Our God is a God who specializes in restoring the broken parts of our lives!

Fathers Leading Families to Meet with God

Here in the northwest, Dads often take their families to the mountains - for hiking, skiing, camping, canoeing, and fishing, among other activities. In the Bible, God often met with people on mountains - He spoke to them, encouraged them, and gave them a mission to go back home with. Dads have the privilege of taking their families to the mountains, literal and figurative, to also meet with God, hear His Word, and discover something about the mission God is sending them on together.

Strength in Numbers

An increasing number of Christians are attending worship gatherings less and less frequently in our country today. Many believe they can adequately practice their faith on their own in the privacy of their home or car or wherever, but the clear teaching of the New Testament is that this is not possible - not only is there no such thing as “private Christians” because being a Christian automatically connects you to the larger Church, but the New Testament urges us to meet together regularly and Jesus reminds us that He is with us when we do.
