If your money could talk, what would it say? The reality is that for many of us our money would say that we trust it more than we trust God, that we love it more than we love God. Especially in our culture, it is all too easy to buy into the idea that we need this or that in order to be happy, to be comfortable - Jesus calls us to wrestle with our priorities and where we most place our trust.

God freely gives us everything we have. One day, He will ask us what we did with it, how we invested it, how we planted it like a seed (or not). We live in a time when most people either save up a lot of money for retirement and other goals in life or they are stressed out and worries that they haven’t save or planned enough. It’s easy to think that generosity is just about writing a check or making a donation of some item that people need. While that is helpful, God isn’t after your money - he’s after your heart. In the same way that Jesus gave up everything to provide forgiveness and new life for us, so God calls us to give up our desire to serve ourselves so that we develop a heart of service to others in our lives - family, friends, people we work or study with, total strangers in need.
