You Are A New Creation - North Oak

May 7, 2023 • Matt Fulmer • 2 Corinthians 5:17

As a kid, we would play all sorts of backyard games. A classic rule of any backyard game is the redo. When something went wrong, or there was outside interference, we could simply call a redo, line back up and do the whole thing over. In scripture, God says that in Christ, we are a “new creation.” As a new creation, we have the opportunity to rebuild our lives from the ground up, to do in the future what we didn’t do in the past. We cannot change the beginning of our story, but we have an opportunity to choose the end. In Christ, we get a redo.

You Are God's Handiwork - North Oak

Paul says that we are like God’s artwork. What are the implications of that? We are purposeful, we are gifted, and we are useful. God has created us intentionally to be the way we are - you aren’t an accident. God has given us certain gifts that are unique to us. Because of all of this, we have work that is suited for us to do. In this message, we will talk about the idea that all of us are created and called by God for a purpose in the world.

You are redeemed - North Oak

April 16, 2023 • Matt Fulmer • Isaiah 43:1–2, Colossians 1:13

The prophet Isaiah spoke to the people of Israel, reminding them that they are redeemed — meaning, to be bought back. The word was applied to people who had sold themselves into slavery. For a price, someone could “buy back” the debt and set them free. It has come to mean the ability for a mistake to be forgiven and even used for good. This week, we will talk about the idea that we are redeemed — our mistakes are not only forgiven, but our sins and shortcomings can even become the vehicle for something good.
