Solomon exposed many dark realities of our life under the sun (injustice, oppression, envy, complacency, isolation and ultimately death). It’s tempting to sit in despair over so much we can’t control and so much we don’t understand. But the Lord gives us glimpses of life “above the sun” to move us to contentment and even joy. We can rest knowing that our confidence doesn’t lie in a justice system, but in the Chief Justice himself. We find help and encouragement within the community of faith, in which he has placed us. And because our Lord Jesus Christ abolished death once for all, we have the hope and assurance of everlasting life.
