The gospel is about actual people, real pain, actual trouble, actual sin, you and me, what you have done, what I have done.

It is so easy to lose this focus, to let the gospel blur into general pronouncements, cosmic opinions, and religious indignation.

David became spiritually blind.

Catastrophe and suffering are great revealers of the heart and can either bring out the best or worst in us…. it can reveal a heart of Ziklag or a heart of Brook Besor. God looks for what kind of work we will allow Him to do in our hearts. He knew he could trust David to follow Him faithfully through difficult times and even through his own failures. Can God Safely Trust You to Be Generous?
