Breathing Room

Simplexity: The natural tendency of the simple becoming complex. The antidote for simplexity is : Breathing Room: The space between our current load and limit. How do you develop breathing room? • Slow Down • Simplify • Sabbath-keeping “There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.” Hebrews 4:9-11 What will God renew, and how we do our part: 1. Physically - Ask: “What is my body telling me?” - Practice: What is it that you love doing so much that you lose track of time? 2. Mentally - Ask: “What am I feeling right now?” - Practice: Silence & Solitude 3. Relationally - Ask: “Am I deeply connected?” - Practice: Take the next step to get connected in a community of faith. 4. Spiritually - Ask: “Am I relying on God?” - Practice: Identify what God is already doing in your life and practice gratitude. “Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me. Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:4-5 ACTION – Commit to practicing a Sabbath. Work out the best day for you and begin working out what each practice looks like in your life.
