Overflow

Overflow Trailer

November 8, 2015 • Pastor Tony Stewart

In this three part series, Pastor Tony shares how we can live in the Overflow of God's love, grace and mercy and in turn pour that love, grace and mercy into the lives of others. The key is found in Luke 6:38: "Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you"(NIV). Living in God's overflow involves three important principles: giving, pressing and shaking. Part One of this series deals with the importance of "giving." There are four areas of giving we must align with God's principles in order to live in the overflow of God's promises: 1) Time, 2) Talent, 3) Treasure, and 4) Testimony. When we give in these areas, we must do so with the right motive and the right attitude. When we do, we will find it easy to give generously- out of the overflow of God's provision. Part Two introduces us to the power of the "press." There are two times when pressing takes place in our lives: when God presses us and when God asks us to press through. When God presses us, He does so to make more room in our hearts and lives; He increases our capacity, so His greatness and love can fill us to overflowing and spill over to touch the lives of others. There are also times when God asks us to press through the pain and disappointment in our lives - that's where faith grows. It is in the pressing we find out who we are and who God is. Part Three explains how God takes us through times of shaking. Shaking causes the dead things in our lives to fall off. Anything not producing life must be shaken off because if we press the dead things in our lives into the fresh things God wants to do, contamination will occur. When we allow the Holy Spirit to shake us, He will cause the negative thoughts, the fear, and the discouragement in our lives to be shaken out of us. When we allow God to shake us, then our hearts will be aligned with His will and our passion will be ignited. Choose to live a life of overflow by following God's principles. If you do, your life will be filled with provision, purpose, and passion.
