Heart for the House

Part 1

February 14, 2016 • Pastor Tony Stewart

In this series Pastor Tony shares how one of the defining marks of being a Christian is having a heart for God's house. That house can be our physical body that houses the heart and spirit of God; it can be our homes where we live; or it can be the church building itself- God's house. Scripture teaches us that "blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God." So if we truly desire to see God, we must purify our hearts from the negative influences of the world. To do this we must allow God to examine our heart and show us through prayer and worship the true condition of our heart. We must also inspect our home, the house we live in, by using the light of God's word and by building it upon His precepts. We must not build on temporal or superficial things, for they come and go, but we must build on the supernatural so it will be secure. God must occupy our house and be the center of our home life if we are to withstand the storms of life. We must never forget to build and maintain the house of God-His church; not because God needs a house, but because we need it to do His will and reach into our community. God's house must reflect His heart and be a place of peace, promise, power and prayer. Finally, to truly have a "heart for the house," we must have a Warrior's heart. A Warrior's Heart is secure, strong, courageous, confident, expectant, thankful, ready and victorious. A warrior's heart is centered on God and who He is and what He has done in our lives. Because of that, we are able to keep our hearts pure, build upon His word, and truly reflect God's heart to a broken world. If we have a heart for the house, God will keep our hearts safely and securely in the palm of His hand.
