Romans 12:1-2
January 18, 2024 • Peter Denham • Romans 12:1–2
“No man is a fool to give up that which he cannot keep, to gain that which he can’t lose.” - Jim Elliot POINT #1. Sacrifice is our service "There is actually only one thing you can dedicate to God, and that is your right to yourself.” Oswald Chambers POINT #2. Consecration is our call JB Phillips: “…beg you, my brothers, as an act of intelligent worship, to give him your bodies, as a living sacrifice, consecrated to him and acceptable by him. Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into its own mold, but let God re-mold your minds from within…” “But now, O Lord, You are our Father, We are the clay, and You our potter; And all of us are the work of Your hand.” (Isaiah 64:8) For we are the temple of the living God. As God said: “I will live in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20corinthians%206&version=nlt#fen-nlt-28875e]17Therefore, come out from among unbelievers, and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord. Don’t touch their filthy things, and I will welcome you.[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20corinthians%206&version=nlt#fen-nlt-28876f] 18 And I will be your Father, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20corinthians%206&version=nlt#fen-nlt-28877g]” 2 CORINTHIANS 6:16-18 POINT #3 Transformation is our testimony JB Phillips: “so that you may prove in practice that the plan of God for you is good, meets all his demands and moves towards the goal of true maturity.”

Jesus, The One True King
July 6, 2023 • Pete Vitale • 1 Kings, 2 Kings, 1 Samuel, 2 Samuel, 1 Chronicles
"...Everyone did what was right in their own eyes (as they saw fit)!" (Judges 21:25) But people do a bad job in leading by themselves. Judges and other readings cite the problems Israel had with leadership when it was not done alongside God and with His plan in mind. Pete uses some simple illustrations to point out the difficulties with secular leadership that doesn't follow God's leadership.

The Whole Story

When you watch a movie preview, you don't see the whole story line of the movie. You need to see the whole picture to really understand the story. Jesus' story is one of Redemption, and His story continues. The NT writers tell us to do 4 things because of the Christmas story: 1) Believe in Him, 2) Receive Him, 3) Follow Him, and 4) Serve Him!
