It Is Finished (Song Teaching Video)

Daniel Ross & Caleb Spencer

March 23, 2017

In April 2017, Redemption Christian Church will sing a new song together called “It Is Finished,” originally performed by The Modern Post and written by Dustin Kensrue and Brian Eichelberger.

The song takes the words of Jesus on the cross and turns them into a victory cry for the people He has redeemed through His work on the cross of Calvary. Jesus has finished the work of our salvation, there’s no deeds we can do to accomplish it and, as the lyrics say, “there’s no rite nor magic words.” He has done it for us. This is fantastic news.

Songwriter Dustin Kensrue likens this work of Jesus to the Allies landing on Normandy in World War II. The war was, essentially, won by the Allied forces and lost for the Axis forces at that point — but the battle still had to be fought. In the same way for us as believers, Jesus has won the victory — the battle — but He has still given us work to do in proclaiming the Gospel to the world. So, because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, we can be bold and confident in our lives while spreading the good news.

Take a look at the video to see Redemption worship ministers Daniel Ross and Caleb Spencer leading this song acoustically. It moves fairly quickly, so watch several times to get the song planted in your head so we can sing it loudly together.
