UPDATE: Redemption To Purchase Former Tell City Junior High Building

September 12, 2021

For nearly two years, we've discussed the launch of Redemption's third location in Tell City. For the past year, we have been actively looking for a place to hold weekend worship gatherings in the Tell City/Perry County area. Since PEOPLE are actually the church (and not a building), in some senses, we have already launched. However, we know we need a place for gatherings and to be a headquarters for ministry equipping. To be fiscally responsible and avoid adding to our debt, we initially believed we would rent or lease a location but those plans didn't pan out as we thought. After many visits, some due diligence research, and inspections from contractors, we are excited to announce we have entered into a purchase agreement to purchase the former Tell City Junior High School to be the home for this campus. We believe this building has great bones, is well known, and has more than 70,000 square Feet of space — including a great gymnasium. The potential for future ministry development and to be a resource for the community is incredible. We believe there is amazing potential for what can be done here. With that in mind, what are our next steps? Initially, the plan is to do some clean up and minor improvements so we can have some TEMPORARY areas to hold worship gatherings and kids ministry. We are able to purchase the building with savings (i.e. no new debt). We also hope to raise the funds needed to complete a more permeant worship center. Over time, we hope to develop other areas of the building. When we get final possession (scheduled to be within the next month) and work through plans, you will hear more about how YOU can help and some goals to launch worship gatherings. Please continue to pray about the Tell City location and be watching and listening for opportunities to give sweat equity — in addition to giving resources — in ways to glorify God and partner with Him as we love Him, love people, and see Him change our world.
