What's This?

January 31, 2017 • Central Baptist Church

Following Jesus! _If any man serve me, let him follow me… (Jn 12:26)_ What’s This? - The Reason and Plan for These Weekly Encouragements January 31, 2017 Stewardship is our January tradition at Central Baptist Church. In his January sermons Pastor Waterloo has emphasized many ways that we can serve and truly follow Jesus… in FAITH! 1. Jan 1 AM - Great Faith (introducing our 2017 Theme) 2. Jan 8 AM & PM - Being a contributor, and not just a consumer! 3. Jan 11 WED - Faith… the FOUNDATION 4. Jan 15 AM - Let No Man’s Heart Fail (Fear, the Opposite of Faith) 5. Jan 22 AM - United We Stand, Divided We Fall 6. Jan 22 PM - Don’t Become a Discourager If you missed any of these foundation-sermons because of the widespread-illness or because of your work schedule, TAKE THE TIME TO LISTEN! [As always, they are available on our CBC Mobile APP (Sermons page) and our Sermon Blog http://(http://cbcponca.blogspot.com). The links are also posted on the CBC Facebook Page.] But here is the question: as January rolls into February, does “discipleship” and “stewardship” fade from our radar screen? Without a doubt, the rudiments and extracurriculars of life will compete with our Kingdom Cause; this World will always attempt to capture our focus and our love! Hey, it happened to the church in Ephesus, and it can happen at CBC! Consequently, each one of us needs to be regularly monitoring our “spiritual” blood pressure. Are we really serving Jesus as faithful disciples (learners) and ambitious stewards (doers) of the Kingdom? Or are we just attending when it’s convenient, giving here and there when we have enough to spare, reaching out only when the guilt-trip hits, reading and studying the Word haphazardly, and praying inconsistently? Are our daily discipleship habits hit and miss; do they seem shallow and lacking in the passion-department? The bottom-line question is: “Are we truly engaged as Kingdom Citizens, or are we on the periphery, looking in, letting this World rob us of the most precious thing in this life: a close, vibrant, personal, and fulfilling servant-Master relationship with Jesus Christ?” So, during the weeks ahead we will publish and push out concise, quick-to-read-and-digest, mini-challenges that will help remind us of what serving and following Jesus really is… to this end that we might become (or continue to be) super-serious about discipleship (learning) and stewardship (doing). In this effort we are coining a brand new term: Discipo-stewardship. Discipleship is LEARNING; stewardship is DOING. We need to be passionately involved in both arenas, for this is TRUE New Testament Christianity. Let’s Follow the Master!
