Light in the Darkness

January 8, 2023 • Lance Faulkner • Matthew 5:14–16, Daniel 1

In this powerful sermon, we will be delving into the book of Daniel and Matthew to discover how we can remain steadfast in our faith even when the world around us is trying to change who we are. As we read through Daniel Chapter 1, we see how the young men of Judah were faced with the temptation to assimilate and adopt the ways of the Babylonians. Similarly, in Matthew 5:14-16, Jesus reminds us that we are the light of the world, and it is our job to shine bright, even in the darkness.

The world is constantly trying to change our identity and our priorities, but it is essential that we are aware of this attack and make a commitment to not be polluted or defiled by these influences. We must have the courage to stand firm and follow God's plan for our lives, just like Daniel and his friends did in Babylon.

In this sermon, we will explore the importance of staying true to ourselves and not compromising our values. We will learn how to have the courage to stand up for what we believe in and not be swayed by the world's temptations. By understanding the power of our identity and our priorities, we can be shining examples of God's love and grace to all those around us. So join us as we delve into the teachings of Daniel and Matthew, and discover the strength and resilience that can only be found in a steadfast faith.
