Lessons From II John

2 John 2 (12/5/19)

December 5, 2019 • Benham Brothers

* Why the second and third letters of John? * 2 John was written to a Christian woman whose home was open for people to meet and fellowship. * John pointed out three dangers she (and other believers) needed to avoid: * 1) Knowing the truth but not practicing it (vs 1-6). * 2) Practicing truth but not defending it (vs 7-8, 10-11). * 3) Going beyond the truth (vs 9). * 3 John was written to a Christian man named Gaius who was an elder in a church. * It was written to encourage Gaius to stand strong against apostasy in the church. * 2 John strengthens the home. 3 John strengthens the church.
