Responding With Grace in an Age of Outrage

Counter-Cultural Presence

April 2, 2023 • Romans 12:14–18, Luke 19:1–8

In this final week of this series Outraged, we talk about the power of presence. Being present with people increases people's happiness quotient. Not only that, but much of the anger in our culture is directed, fostered, and encouraged through our online activities. We need to work on being present, by listening to people. When we listen to people it communicates their value.

Counter-Cultural Community

March 26, 2023 • Heather Carl • Acts 1:8, Acts 2:42–47, Mark 10:42–45

In an age of outrage, Christians should be forming a counter-culture community that stands out in contrast from the world in the best way possible. In this message we talk about how to form a counter cultural community. It will require that we look like Jesus, that we forbear and forgive like him and that we lead with love. To achieve that, we need to be taking in different things than the world, so we can give out something different than the world does.

Counter-Cultural Kindness

March 19, 2023 • Pastor Jamey Stuart • 1 Samuel 25

Responding with Grace in a culture of people who are outraged look like being kind to people who don't deserve kindness. We will define kindness as love in action. A key to having kindness to people is being able to sympathize with their pain. Instead of asking "what's wrong with them?" start asking "what happened to them?"

Counter-Cultural Mission

March 12, 2023 • Pastor Jamey Stuart • John 20:18–21, Romans 12:17–18

The Christian life is a bit like being on a mission trip. We live in a culture that we don't belong to. Everything about how we interact with the world around us is to be different than what is practiced. The series will teach us how and why we are to respond to the world with grace when they are experiencing outrage. This week we will simply focus on the mission that is ours and how it should look.
