Carnal

Episode 238

Angus Buchan

Angus gently reminds us that we need to die to self, put to death our carnal nature. And the only way to do that is to get close to the Lord. We are saved by Grace, Gods undeserved love and mercy.

1 Corinthians 3:3
"for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men?"

2 Corinthians 5:17
"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

No excuses

Matthew 7:16

Holiness is the end product of obedience. We will face the Lord one day, it is important that the Lord will know us on that day. We will be known by our fruits, by our lifestyle, not merely by what we say. If we love God, then we will obey His commandments, His will.

Honour our elders

Exodus 20:12

Exodus 20:12. God commands us to honour our parents. This is the first commandment in the Bible that comes with a promise. Respect them, ask God to give you a love for them and be patient with them.

Deny yourself

Matthew 16:24, Romans 1:17, John 15:13

Matthew 16:24. The cost for following Jesus is self denial. It is hard to do this. Romans 1:17. It's by faith that we put our flesh to death. If our faith has cost nothing, then it is worth nothing. When we choose righteousness, it causes us to become unpopular with the world. John 15:13.
