Prepared for Battle

September 21, 2021 • Angus Buchan • Ephesians 6:11, John 15:7, Matthew 12:30

“Put on the whole armour of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. “
Ephesians 6:11

We are in a war. We are in a full-scale war like never before in the history of the earth. We need to be prepared each day. John 15:7 says very clearly:

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

The devil and all his demons are afraid of the soldiers of the cross. Do not be slack by not putting on your armour each morning. Do you know, when I wake up in the morning before I get out of bed, Jill and I put on the armour of God. That’s right!

The helmet of salvation;
the breastplate of righteousness;
the belt of truth around our waist,
clad our feet with the shoes of the Gospel of peace;
take up the shield of faith to war off the fiery darts of the evil one;
and take up the sword of the Spirit, the word of God, the Bible.
And then we go out with the joy of the Lord, which is our strength, every single day.

Good soldiers of the cross do not keep bad company. Don’t spend time fraternizing with the enemy. Remember, before you speak to people about God, be sure that you have first spoken to God about those people.
That is what an intercessor told me many years ago - Bradley Stuart.

I am a beekeeper. I love bee-keeping, I love my bees - I do not fear them but I do respect them. There are certain times of the day, that I will work with my bees and there are other times that I won’t. When I put on that bee suit, (remember African bees are also known as the killer bees, not by accident), I make sure that there are no openings that the bees can penetrate, otherwise, they will sting me. Do not give the devil a foothold in your life my dear friend. Don’t be lazy, don’t compromise - Don’t turn your back on the enemy.

You know, personal character is so important. Let it slip and the devil with laugh at you. You can’t serve two masters. Matthew 12:30:

“He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.”

Remember, by being inconsistent we water down our effectiveness and our reputation and this makes us very weak on the battlefield. When we are properly kitted out, every morning before we go out, the devil knows it and he backs right off. He is afraid of us... He knows that he has met with someone who is more of a match than he is.

Go out today and tell people about Jesus Christ but be sure that you have prepared yourself first. Have a wonderful day.

God bless you.
