The Inspiring Promises of the Gospel

God Says – Part 1

August 17, 2022

How do we know what God is saying to us? Religion will tell us God needs us to do more, try harder, and hope that through self-improvement, He will finally accept us. But through the New Covenant, God is proclaiming radical, powerful truths about your forgiveness, security, and new identity. In this message, you’ll see the Christian life is not about what you’re doing but what He’s already done. Celebrate these essential promises of the Gospel – truths we proclaim at our new church campus in Dallas, in West Texas, and through media worldwide. The freedom of God’s grace is better than you could ever imagine!

Many Christians view forgiveness from an old covenant mindset. They believe God requires ongoing rituals or words of confession for us to sustain our forgiveness and avoid judgment. But thanks to the shed blood of Jesus, believers are under a new covenant, and our forgiveness is not progressive. In this message, you’ll learn what God says about your once-for-all forgiveness and why you will never be more forgiven than you already are today! Discussion Questions: 1. What’s the difference between forgiveness under the Law and forgiveness today? 2. How does God’s “blood economy” factor into understanding His forgiveness? 3. How does the image of Jesus seated at God’s right hand speak to you? 4. Why do you think we’re so often tempted to interpret our circumstances as God trying to tell us something? Where should we really look to understand God’s attitude toward us?

We believers often wonder: Can I lose my salvation? Can I mess this up? What if I keep on struggling? What if I wake up one day and stop believing or stop loving God? These questions can weigh us down or even nag at us daily. In this message, I share the truth about how safe and secure we really are in Jesus. Ultimately, it’s about deciding whether our God is a truth-teller or a liar. That’s right – it really comes down to the character of God. Why? Because in Scripture, we see so many promises that God will never leave us, never forsake us, and that nothing separates us from His love. So, who are you going to believe? Find the encouragement and confidence you need to believe God at His word in my new message, “God Says: You Are Safe!” Discussion Questions: 1. What are three of the reasons Andrew offered as to why believers are eternally secure? 2. Which reason impacted you the most and why? 3. How does God address the concern of us no longer believing or no longer loving God? 4. How did Andrew react to this statement: “If Christians are eternally secure, they can just go out and do whatever they want!”

A lot happened through the Cross: The Law was fulfilled, and forgiveness was provided. But there’s even more: You died with Jesus. This is how you were made new. Think about it: You can’t really be born again without the old dying first, right? This is precisely why we don’t have to worry about “dying to self,” as so many claim. We don’t have to die to self because we’re the new self. Why seek to destroy what God has rebuilt? Still, we face the logical question: If I’m so new, then why do I still struggle with sin? In this essential message, you’ll find real, solid answers. As a result, you’ll have more confidence than ever that you’re not fighting a civil war against yourself. Ephesians 2 says God made you alive together with Christ. You don’t need to get out of God’s way. You’re not an obstacle. You’re God’s instrument. God says, “You are new!” and He wants you to know the truth about who you really are. So, dig into this important message and enjoy!

“Here’s how you can get closer to God…” We hear this all the time, but this well-intentioned sales pitch assumes we aren’t close to God right now. It assumes there’s work yet to be done to get us closer. But what if you’re united with Christ and as close to God as you can possibly be here and now? What if the closeness you’ve been seeking is absolutely free, because it cost Jesus everything? You may have been told your entire Christian life that you need to hunger and thirst for closeness to God. But in this message, I demonstrate how knowing what happened to you at salvation can transform your entire outlook on closeness with God. Get ready to be boosted into a remarkable new confidence that comes from knowing your perfect and unbreakable union with Jesus. Discussion Questions: 1. How does Andrew’s example of the corpse on the roadside help clarify our original condition? 2. What is the definition of “eternal” and why does it matter? 3. Why did Andrew mention Michael Phelps? Did it give you a vivid picture of the life given to you? 4. React to this statement: We should hunger and thirst for more of God. Is this true or false? Discuss. 5. The secret formula for Coca Cola was eventually revealed. How does this relate to the Gospel? 6. According to Andrew’s analogy, how is behavior like clothing?

God Says – Part 6

The cross is the true dividing line of human history. Through His death, Jesus ushered in a new and liberating way of grace. The old way of the Law is now obsolete, and we believers have died to the Law. This means we are free, and God wants us to know the freedom He purchased for us through Christ. In this final part of the series, “God Says,” I argue passionately for our freedom from rule-based religion and explain why it’s so important that we stand firm in God’s grace. Discussion Questions: 1. In your own words, what is the New Covenant? How specifically is it better than the Old Covenant? 2. In what ways does the Sermon on the Mount expose the true standard of the Law? 3. How does the paperwork (passport) of Jesus play into the debate over Law and grace? 4. Why do you think so many people look at the Ten Commandments as an exception to our freedom from the Law? 5. How does an atmosphere of grace inspire the believer to live uprightly?
