We are familiar with “rags to riches” stories; they make up many of our children’s fairy tails. But what the Apostle Paul reveals to us in Ephesians chapter 2 about the church is that the Gospel is more than a “rags to riches” story, it is the story of Christ alone taking us, who were members of the “wrath” family, who were dead in our failures and rebellion, and by His mercy alone has made us sit with Christ in heavenly places. The Gospel is the story of moving from the grave to the Thrown of God itself.

In the church the Lord has not turned non-Jews into Jews. Nor has He turned Jews into non-Jews, but rather he has taken the two and turned them into something that has never existed before. Join us in our study of Ephesians chapter two as we study this new work that God has accomplished.

Keeping Yourself from Bitterness Someone has defined bitterness as “a chronic and pervasive state of smoldering resentment." We repeatedly run through our minds how we have been victimized and meditate on the unfairness of our life’s circumstances. What we find in Ephesians chapter 3 is unfairness taking place in the Apostle Paul’s life, yet there is no hint of any bitterness at all. What was his secret?

It is clear in scripture that God has limited Himself to work within the prayers of His people. John Wesley once said, "God does nothing except in response to believing prayer." No doubt the secret to how the Apostle Paul shook the Roman Empire was an incredible commitment to prayer. Join us in our study of Ephesians chapter 3 as we take an in-depth look at a prayer of the Apostle Paul.

What does a life committed to God look like? Different religious groups promote different ideas on what God expects from us. You and I do not need Church leaders to tell us what that is. In the forth chapter of Ephesians Paul lays out in simple to understand terms what the desires of God are for us concerning how we are to live. Join us in our study of Ephesians four to discover the Will of God for your life.

Our heavenly Father has a strong desire to reveal Himself through the Christian. But how does this happen? In Ephesians Chapter 4, the Apostle Paul reveals how God's plan to work through us takes place.

The path that leads a soul from God If someone finds themselves a million miles away from God, how did they get there? They of course followed a path that took them there. Ephesians chapter 4 describes that path, and tells us both where it starts and where it ends.

Not what makes God angry, but what makes heavy sorrow to come upon His heart? Every parent knows the difference between anger and to be grieved. The fourth chapter of Ephesians lays out those things that can take a hold of our lives that will cause sorrow to come upon the God that loves us. Join us as we look into Ephesians 4:25-32.

Ephesians 5:1-7

There is no shortage of opinions on how the followers of Christ are to order their lives. Our lifestyles are not to be governed by the opinions of people, but by the simple instructions found in God’s Word. In Ephesians chapter 5, we are given a clear comparison between the true worshipper of God and someone whom the Bible identifies as an idolater.

Ephesians 5:8-21

In Ephesians chapter 5, we are reading what a life that is dedicated to God looks like. One of the facets of such a life is being filled with the Spirit. Two important questions that we deal with in this chapter is how can one be filled and what is the evidence that a person’s life is filled with God’s Spirit?

Ephesians 5:22-24

As we are moving through the fifth chapter of Ephesians we have discovered that part of our response to God’s grace and goodness towards us is to allow ourselves to be controlled by God’s Spirit. What does that control look like in a Christian marriage? Please join us as we begin with the Spirit controlled wife.

Ephesians 5:25-33

Our Creator tells us in Ephesians chapter 5 that His will for marriage is to have a wife that is controlled by the Spirit and a husband that submits himself to the same control. What we learn in this section of Ephesians is not that a husband is some “overlord” in the marriage, but a servant. Join us as we see what the Spirit controlled husband is called to be.
